Terms of Use

The agreement between you and us. Plain about the important parts: the age limit, what the characters are, and how subscriptions work.

Effective 3 August 2026

Agreement

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Ratera Yazılım ve Bilişim Anonim Şirketi covering the Lumo app and this website. By creating an account or using Lumo you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Lumo.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of this agreement.

Who can use Lumo

Lumo is an adults-only service. You must be 18 or older to create an account or use it. By using Lumo you confirm that you meet that limit and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

You must also be permitted to use a service like this where you live. If you are not, do not use it.

We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and we may suspend or close an account we believe belongs to someone under 18.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for your account and for everything done through it; keep access to your sign-in provider to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it.

Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it accurate. We may suspend or close accounts created with false details, including a false date of birth.

One person, one account. Do not sell, rent or transfer your account to anyone else.

The characters are fiction

Every character in Lumo is fictional. Replies are generated by an AI model, one message at a time. A character has no knowledge, no judgement and no awareness of your circumstances, and it does not speak for us or for anyone else.

Nothing a character says is advice. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, psychological or safety decisions. If you are in crisis, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency service.

AI output can be wrong, offensive or inconsistent even when we try to prevent it, and images it produces are not photographs of anyone. We do not warrant that any reply or image will be accurate or appropriate.

Content standards and reporting

Lumo carries content created by other people as well as by us. We do not review everything before it appears, and we do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour.

You can report a character, a reply or a profile from inside the app, or write to us at the address at the end of these Terms. We review reports and act on them — removing content, or suspending or closing the account behind it — and we aim to deal with reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.

We may remove any content and suspend or close any account at our discretion where we believe these Terms have been broken, in serious cases without prior notice.

What you may not do

You agree not to use Lumo to:

  • Create, request, upload or share any sexual content involving a minor, or any content that sexualises a person presented as a minor. This is an absolute limit, it is enforced without exception, and we report it to the authorities where the law requires.
  • Depict a real, identifiable person in a sexual, intimate, degrading or defamatory scenario, or upload someone else's photograph or likeness without their permission.
  • Produce or share content that is unlawful, obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory or otherwise objectionable.
  • Promote or provide instructions for terrorism, human trafficking, serious violence, weapons, drugs or other serious crime.
  • Encourage or provide instructions for suicide, self-harm or an eating disorder.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, defame or impersonate anyone, or share another person's private information.
  • Break the law, infringe anyone's intellectual property, or violate anyone's privacy or publicity rights.
  • Get around our safeguards, age limit, gem or subscription mechanics, scrape the service, reverse-engineer it, overload it, or access it by automated means.
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit access to Lumo, or use it to build a competing service.

These rules apply to what you write, what you upload, what you ask a character to produce, and what you publish for other people to see.

Characters you create

You are responsible for every character you create and for everything about it — its name, its description, its artwork and how it behaves. You confirm that you have the rights to everything you upload and that the character does not break the rules above.

If you publish a character, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, translate and promote it and its associated content inside Lumo and in material about Lumo, for as long as it remains published. You keep ownership of it, and unpublishing it ends that use going forward.

We may decline to publish, unpublish or delete a character at our discretion, and we do not owe you a reason where the decision is about safety or legality.

Your content

What you write in Lumo stays yours. You give us only the limited licence we need to operate the service: to store your messages, to transmit them to our AI provider so a reply or an image can be generated, and to display them back to you.

We do not use your conversations to train AI models, and we do not publish them.

You are responsible for keeping your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. Deleting your account deletes your conversations permanently and we cannot recover them.

Gems and virtual items

Some features are paid for with gems, a virtual item inside the app. Gems are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use a feature — they are not money, they have no cash value, they cannot be exchanged for cash, and they cannot be transferred, sold or moved to another account.

You can obtain gems by buying a pack, by claiming a daily reward, by completing an in-app task, or as part of a subscription. Gems obtained without payment can be changed or withdrawn at any time.

If a purchase is refunded or reversed, we deduct the gems it granted; if that takes your balance below zero, the shortfall is carried until a later grant or purchase clears it. If we charge you gems for something that then fails, we return them.

Unused gems are forfeited when your account is closed, and they expire if we discontinue the service, subject to any right the law in your country gives you.

Subscriptions and payment

Lumo is free to start. Some features require a paid subscription, sold through the Apple App Store.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours beforehand. Your Apple ID is charged at confirmation of purchase and again at each renewal. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings, not through us — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Prices may change; we will tell you before a change affects a renewal. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies and we cannot issue them directly. Where consumer law in your country gives you a right of withdrawal or a refund, that right applies regardless of anything in this section.

Our intellectual property

Lumo, its name, its logo, its software and the characters we publish belong to us or to our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything to you.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Lumo and delete your account at any time from inside the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your personas and your conversations.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue Lumo entirely we will give reasonable notice where we can.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Lumo, including individual features and characters, and we may update these Terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use Lumo afterwards means you accept the updated Terms.

We do not promise that the service will always be available or uninterrupted.

Disclaimers

Except where the law does not allow it, Lumo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Lumo.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty euros (€50).

These limits do not affect the statutory rights of consumers.

Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Lumo, because of content you created or published, or because you breached these Terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages we incur as a result, to the extent the claim arises from your conduct.

Apple

You obtained Lumo through the Apple App Store. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support for Lumo. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives you the protection of your local courts and mandatory consumer rules, nothing here removes that protection.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us — most issues are quicker to resolve by email.

General

If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a business transfer.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Ratera Yazılım ve Bilişim Anonim Şirketi about Lumo.
